The Georgia Food Industry Association gets more calls concerning the WIC program than any other topic. The WIC department is working to identify problems within the program, and to fix them. Their Vendor Relations Team relies upon feedback from the vendors to help them to achieve this goal. If you have an issue, you may contact your individual vendor relations consultant, call the customer service hotline, email the department, or participate in one of the Vendor Advisory Forums.
GFIA works closely with the GA WIC department to represent our members' best interests. If you need help with any issue, please call the GFIA office or email Kathy Kuzava. We are here to help!
The WIC program’s vendor information site can also answer many of your questions.

Best Practices for WIC Vendors
Every WIC vendor must follow the program guidelines provided in the GA WIC Program Vendor Handbook, effective June 6, 2022. Make sure that you and your management staff are familiar with its contents.
The most common sanctions against vendors are for out of date food items, and failure to maintain minimum inventory requirements (particularly infant formula). Regularly check your inventory for proper dates and availability. Refer to the "Best Practices to Avoid Sanctions" document provided below from the March 16, 2016 Vendor Advisory meeting for some helpful advice on avoiding these common sanctions.
Minimum inventory requirements
Submit shelf prices often. The department uses data from the shelf price surveys to determine pricing levels and voucher reimbursement amounts. It is vitally important for ALL WIC VENDORS to submit shelf prices. Refer to the documentation provided below from the December 8, 2015 Vendor Advisory meeting for helpful instructions on how to complete a shelf price survey.
Participate in annual training. Every authorized vendor must participate in at least one type of training each year. Deadlines and training information is provided on the WIC program vendor information website.
Communicate with the WIC Program Vendor Relations Team. If you have an issue or a question, please notify your vendor relations consultant, send an email to [email protected] , or call the hotline at (866) 814-5468. GFIA is always available to help, too. Give Kathy or Kim a call at (770) 438-7744, and we will do our best to help you find a solution.
