The Georgia Food Industry Association (GFIA) Best Bagger Contest is a chance for baggers from across the state to compete for scholarships and an opportunity to represent Georgia at the National Grocers Association (NGA) Best Bagger Contest in Las Vegas.   The contest is one of the most exciting and anticipated events of the GFIA convention - be a part of the excitement!!

This year’s contest will be held in Jacksonville, Florida at the Marriott  Resort Sawgrass on Thursday, July 16th. Competitors must be registered no later than June 12, 2020.


Judging Criteria
  • Speed 
  • Proper Bag Building Technique 
  • Weight Distribution Between Bags  
  • Style, Attitude & Appearance


Eligibility
  • Entrants must be primarily employed as a bagger and must be a high school or college student.
  • GFIA retail members can hold in-store contests to select their state contestant.
  • GFIA will provide complimentary registrations to the GFIA convention for each bagging contestant and his/her family. Retailer is responsible for providing hotel accommodations and travel expenses.


Prizes:

The winner will receive a $2,000 scholarship from the Georgia Food Industry Education Foundation, and a trip to Las Vegas, Nevada in February to compete in the National Best Bagger Competition.
  • 2nd Place will receive a $1,000 scholarship 
  • 3rd Place will receive a $500 scholarship 
  • All other participants will receive a $250 scholarship award.
