The Georgia Food Industry Association (GFIA) Best Bagger Contest is a chance for baggers from across the state to compete for scholarships and an opportunity to represent Georgia at the National Grocers Association (NGA) Best Bagger Contest in Las Vegas. The contest is one of the most exciting and anticipated events of the GFIA convention - be a part of the excitement!!

This year’s contest will be held in Orlando, Florida at the OMNI ChampionsGate Thursday, July 17, 2025. Competitors must be registered no later than June 16, 2025.

Judging Criteria:
- Speed
- Proper Bag Building Technique
- Weight Distribution Between Bags
- Style, Attitude & Appearance
Eligibility:
- Contestants must spend at least 40% of their time at work in the front-end, bagging customers’ groceries.
- A bagger’s primary duties must be classified as front-end staff and must have a non-managerial title, role, and set of responsibilities in order to be eligible to compete.
- Contestant does NOT have to be a high school or college student.
- GFIA retail members can hold in-store contests to select their state contestant.
Georgia's Best Bagger Contest at GFIA Convention:
- GFIA will provide complimentary registrations to the GFIA convention for each bagging contestant and a guest. Retailer is responsible for providing hotel accommodations and travel expenses.
- GFIA will provide up to six additional complimentary registrations to the retailer for staff members to attend the GFIA Convention.
Thanks to the Georgia Food Industry Education Foundation, winners will receive:
- 1st place - $1,750, a trip to Las Vegas, Nevada in February to compete in the National Best Bagger Competition, and $250 in spending money.
- 2nd place will receive $1,000.
- 3rd place will receive $500.
- 4th place will receive $250.
- All other participants will receive $100.
